Combinatory low methylation statuses of SAT-α and L1 are associated with shortened survival time in patients with advanced gastric cancer
Gastric Cancer Jun 24, 2018
Kim Y, et al. - Using pyrosequencing methylation assay, the researchers determined L1 and SAT-α methylation status in 492 cases of advanced gastric cancer to ultimately explore the predictive implication of SAT-α hypomethylation alongside L1 hypomethylation in gastric cancers. In patients with advanced gastric cancer, both tumoral L1 hypomethylation and tumoral SAT-α hypomethylation were found to be independent prognostic parameters. Findings suggested that SAT-α methylation status could be used to further divide gastric cancers with L1 hypomethylation into subsets of gastric cancers with better and worse prognosis.
