Combination of post-fascia iliaca compartment block and dexmedetomidine in pain and inflammation control after total hip arthroplasty for elder patients: A randomized control study
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Feb 17, 2020
Liu, X, et al. - A randomized control study was designed to evaluate the performance of fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) combined with dexmedetomidine (DEX) in postoperative and inflammation management for elder individuals after total hip arthroplasty. This study recruited a sum of 119 elder individuals who received total hip arthroplasty in the hospital between March 2016 and December 2018. These individuals were categorized into three groups: control group, individuals received routine general anesthesia; FICB group, individuals received additional FICB after surgery; and combined group, individuals received both pre-treatment of DEX and post-treatment of fascia iliaca compartment block. After total hip arthroplasty, it was found that that FICB combined with DEX decreased the postoperative pain, increased the sleep condition, and decreased the serum levels of inflammatory factors.
