Combination of bone graft and resorbable membrane for alveolar ridge preservation: A systematic review, meta-analysis and trial sequential analysis
Journal of Periodontology Oct 22, 2017
Troiano G, et al. - The proof in regards to potential benefits of alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) procedures performed with allogenic/xenogenic grafts in combination with a resorbable membrane coverage in comparison to a spontaneous healing are examined in this study. The current study showed that the utilization of bone graft covered by a resorbable membrane is able to reduce the rate of alveolar ridge horizontal and vertical resorption after tooth extraction. The power and reliability of the evidences are strong enough to confirm the above-mentioned findings, despite the high rate of heterogeneity of included studies.
