Cognitive function in very old men does not correlate to biomarkers of Alzheimerâs disease
BMC Geriatrics Sep 13, 2017
Velickaite V, et al. - The association of cognitive performance with the degree of brain atrophy, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarker levels and neuropathology was investigated in a cohort of aged men. Findings demonstrated that cognitive performance was weakly correlated with medial temporal atrophy (MTA), whereas, there existed no correlation between the various neuroradiological, biochemical and neuropathological measures. Therefore, AlzheimerÂs disease (AD) biomarkers appear to be less informative in subjects of an advanced age.
