Cognitive behavioral therapy for children with autism spectrum disorder: A prospective observational study
European Journal of Paediatric Neurology Jun 07, 2018
Kurz R, et al. - The researchers prospectively assessed the efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). For this investigation, they enrolled drug-naïve children who met the DSM-V criteria for ASD diagnosis from a daycare center that specialized in the long-term treatment of children and adolescents with ASD. Using the Aberrant Behavior Checklist (ABC) before (baseline) and after 12 months (follow-up) of CBT, symptom assessment was conducted. It was concluded that for children with ASD, CBT was an effective therapy, with significant improvements in irritability, hyperactivity, and lethargy.
