Cognition, emotional health, and immunological markers in children with long-term nonprogressive HIV
Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes Mar 03, 2018
Paul R, et al. - Researchers investigated HIV-infected children with long-term nonprogressive (LTNP) disease for cognition, emotional health, and immunological markers to assess the extent to which these children experience the cognitive and emotional symptoms observed in typical progressive HIV (Progressors). In this work, cognitive and emotional difficulties experienced by these children seemed reflecting symptoms of progressive disease. They observe that the abnormalities were present at young ages and persisted independent of plasma T-cell counts. Findings thereby suggested the neurodevelopmental risk of pediatric HIV, even in those with early innate disease control.
