Coffee consumption and risk of physical function impairment, frailty and disability in older adults

European Journal of Nutrition Mar 22, 2018

Machado-Fragua MD, et al. - This study was designed to test the hypothesis that coffee intake is associated with lower risk of physical function impairment, frailty and disability in older adults. Researchers herein focused on women and those with obesity, hypertension or type 2 diabetes because they are at higher risk of functional limitations. Coffee consumption was not shown to be related to increased risk of functional impairment in older people. Instead, coffee consumption might even benefit women and those with hypertension, obesity or diabetes.
