Stuermer KJ, et al. - The long-term results of this new method of cochlear implantation in underwater technique were evaluated by the experts. Findings revealed the underwater technique to be an atraumatic cochlear implantation technique with hearing preservation rates comparable to the results obtained in the literature. This technique also led to a very small hearing preservation decline rate over time even when using full-length CI electrodes.
