Cochlear implant surgery and the risk of falls in an adult population

Louza J, et al. - The goal of this paper was to examine the consequence of cochlear implant surgery on the balance and risk of falls in an adult patient population using a mobile posturograph. Prior to surgery, the presence of a decrease in the postural control was noted in cochlear implant candidates compared with a healthy population. Comparison of pre- and postoperative body sway measurements, nonetheless, it did not display a substantial increase in the fall risk as a result of cochlear implant surgery. It was deduced that cochlear implant surgery did not exert an impact on the balance and risk of falls.
