Co-administration of vancomycin and piperacillin-tazobactam is associated with increased renal dysfunction in adult and pediatric burn patients

Hundeshagen G, et al. - This study was designed to assess the short-term effect of 3 antibiotic administration types viz, vancomycin alone, vancomycin combined with imipenem-cilastin or piperacillin-tazobactam, on renal dysfunction in adult and pediatric burn patients. Findings revealed that in comparison to vancomycin alone or vancomycin plus imipenem-cilastin, vancomycin plus piperacillin-tazobactam was associated with increased renal dysfunction in these populations.
