Clonidine vs other adjuncts added to local anesthetics for pediatric neuraxial blocks: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Yang Y, et al. - Researchers assessed the efficacy and adverse effects between clonidine and other adjuncts added to local anesthetics via performing this meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. They identified a total of 15 randomized controlled studies that met the inclusion criteria. Findings suggested that compared with other adjuncts, added to local anesthetics for neuraxial block, clonidine resulted in a longer duration of postoperative analgesia with lower incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). However, clonidine may also prolong the duration of motor block.
