Clip closure after resection of large colorectal lesions with substantial risk of bleeding
Gastroenterology Aug 01, 2019
Albéniz E, Álvarez MA, Espinós JC, et al. - In patients with an estimated average or high risk of delayed bleeding, researchers assessed the effectiveness of complete clip closure of large (≥ 2 cm) large nonpedunculated colorectal lesions (LNPCLs) after endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR). In 11 hospitals in Spain, from May 2016 through June 2018, the conducted a single-blind trial of 235 consecutive patients who had EMR for LNPCLs with an average or high risk or delayed bleeding (based on Spanish endoscopy society endoscopic resection group score). The authors discovered clip closure of mucosal abnormalities in patients with a danger of bleeding to be a challenge but also to decrease delayed bleeding in a randomized trial of patients with LNPCLs undergoing EMR. Findings suggested that delayed bleeding prevention needed complete clip closure.
