Clinicopathological significance of cancer-associated fibroblasts in papillary thyroid carcinoma: A predictive marker of cervical lymph node metastasis
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Jul 20, 2018
Cho JG, et al. - Authors gauged if cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in were present in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) as well as the association between CAFs and cervical lymph node (LN) metastasis in PTC through immunohistochemistry. They reviewed the medical records of 128 patients diagnosed with PTC from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010, and included 78 patients who had total thyroidectomy with or without neck dissection. Not only were CAFs present in PTC, it was revealed that they are a risk factor for LN metastasis in PTC. In patients with PTC, CAFs could be predictive for LN metastasis.
