Clinicopathological predictors of recurrence in nodular and superficial spreading cutaneous melanoma: A multivariate analysis of 214 cases
Journal of Translational Medicine Nov 13, 2017
Pizzichetta MA, et al. - This study entailed an inspection of the histopathological features in nodular and superficial spreading cutaneous melanoma. The intent was to detect the clinicopathological predictors of recurrence. The findings shed light on the prominent link between nodular melanoma (NM) subtype with higher Breslow thickness (BT) and mitotic rate (MR). However, it was not a prognostic factor since it did not exhibit any notable connection with melanoma recurrence rate. Conversely, increased BT and MR along with lymph node sentinel biopsy (SNLB) positivity prominently correlated with a higher risk of melanoma recurrence.
