Clinicopathological features of pyloric gland adenomas of the duodenum: A multicentre study of 57 cases
Histopathology Dec 10, 2019
Miller GC, Kumarasinghe MP, Borowsky J, et al. - In this multicentre study, researchers determined the clinicopathological characteristics of pyloric gland adenomas (PGA) that arise in the duodenum. Fifty-seven cases of duodenal PGA have been identified and analyzed from 56 individuals. According to results, duodenal PGA tends to occur in older people's proximal duodenum. In 22.8% of cases, gastric heterotopia is involved. Findings revealed that larger size and tubulovillous architecture correlate with high-grade dysplasia and related adenocarcinoma. The low rate of recurrence of these lesions would suggest that endoscopic management is sufficient, as long as the lesion is completely resectable.
