Clinicopathological factors associated with BRAF-V600E mutation in colorectal serrated adenomas
Histopathology May 22, 2019
Travaglino A, et al. - The researchers carried out a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate clinical or pathological factors correlated with BRAF-V600E mutation in serrated adenomas. Forty studies have been included evaluating 3511 serrated adenomas (2375 sessile serrated adenomas [SSAs] and 1136 traditional serrated adenomas [TSAs]). According to findings, BRAF-V600E mutation was related to proximal localisation and CIMP-H status in both SSA and TSA, with size < 10 mm only in TSA, and with MUC5A5 and MUC6 expression and endoscopic pit pattern II-O at least in SSA. BRAF-V600E mutation in serrated adenomas did not appear to be linked to age and sex, dysplasia and cancer prevalence, and dysplastic component morphology.
