Clinicopathological differences in signet ring cell adenocarcinoma between early and advanced gastric cancer
Gastric Cancer Aug 06, 2018
Kao YC, et al. - In gastric cancer patients after curative surgery, researchers summarized the prognosis of signet ring cell adenocarcinoma by analyzing data of 2,971 subjects, including 819 early and 2,152 advanced gastric cancer patients who had curative resection for gastric cancer from January 1988 to December 2012. They found that the overall incidence of signet ring cell adenocarcinoma was 25.4%, the 5-year overall survival rates of early gastric cancer patients with signet ring cell adenocarcinoma were 90.7%, and non-signet ring cell adenocarcinoma was 83.2%. Between early and advanced gastric cancer, the clinical features and prognosis of signet ring cell adenocarcinoma were different. In advanced gastric cancer after curative resection, signet ring cell adenocarcinoma was a poor prognostic factor.
