Clinicopathological characteristics and survival outcomes of bladder neuroendocrine carcinomas: A population-based study
Cancer Management and Research Oct 19, 2018
Niu Q, et al. - Researchers used the national Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database to study clinicopathological features and predictors of survival outcomes of patients with bladder neuroendocrine carcinomas (BNECs). The overall survival and cancer-specific survival resulting from different treatments were analyzed using multivariate Cox regression model. SCNEC/large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) tended to be found in older men. Compared to SCNEC/LCNEC, younger mean ages, earlier tumor stages, and better prognosis were seen in paraganglioma/pheochromocytoma (PGL/PHEO) and carcinoid tumors. Compared with conservative treatment, better results were seen with surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
