Clinicopathological characteristics and prognostic factors for primary thyroid lymphoma: Report on 28 Chinese patients and results of a population-based study
Cancer Management and Research Oct 18, 2018
Chen E, et al. - In this retrospective analysis of 1,653 cases of primary thyroid lymphoma (PTL), researchers, for the first time ever, assessed the independent prognostic factors in the two PTL subtypes. They examined 28 Chinese patients from a local cohort and 1,625 patients from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database from 1973 to 2013. The demographics and prognostic factors of PTL patients were investigated via statistical analysis. Specific clinical features and a relatively good prognosis was seen in PTL. In both mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue patients and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients, there was an association of older age with poor disease-specific survival (DSS). In DLBCL patients, improved DSS was noted in relation to combination of different treatment modalities.
