Clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma: A population-based retrospective study using SEER data
Journal of Thoracic Disease Aug 05, 2018
Yin J, et al. - Researchers examined the clinicopathological features and prognosis of pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma (PPC). They used the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database to obtain information for PPC patients. They assessed and compared this information with NSCLC patient data. PPC patients vs NSCLC patients were found to have significantly bigger tumors, less differentiated tumors, a higher rate of radical surgical resection, less N+ disease, and fewer distant metastases. Factors with an independent association with overall survival included age, T stage, M stage, surgery and chemotherapy. One-, 3- and 5-year overall survival was accurately predicted by the nomogram.
