Clinically significant prostate cancer detection on MRI: A radiomic shape features study

European Journal of Radiology Jun 05, 2019

Cuocolo R, et al. - Through a retrospective study, researchers sought to correlate the presence of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) with shape features derived from MRI index lesions using ten shape features that were extracted. Between csPCa and non-csPCa groups, nearly every shape feature was statistically significant, although the strongest independent predictor of csPCa among tested shape features is the surface area to volume ratio (SAVR), particularly when extracted from ADC maps. After index lesion segmentation, the radiomic shape feature SAVR extracted from ADC maps was concluded as an encouraging tool for detection of csPCa.
