Clinically resolved psoriatic lesions contain psoriasis-specific IL-17–producing αβ T cell clones

The Journal of Clinical Investigation Oct 03, 2017

Matos TR, et al. - The proposition presented here was that residual T cell populations in resolved psoriatic lesions represented the pathogenic T cells of origin in this disease. The findings illustrated the existence of IL-17–producing αβ T cell clones with psoriasis-specific antigen receptors in clinically resolved psoriatic skin lesions. These cells possibly represented the disease-initiating pathogenic T cells in psoriasis. Therefore, it indicated that lasting control of this disease would warrant a suppression of these resident T cell populations.
