Clinical value of MRI in assessing the stability of osteochondritis dissecans lesions: A systematic review and meta-analysis
American Journal of Roentgenology Apr 25, 2019
Hu H, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers estimated the clinical value of MRI in evaluating the stability of osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) lesions. The general data pooling included 16 studies. Data reported that the pooled sensitivity and specificity for juvenile OCD lesions were 0.93 and 0.68, respectively. Findings suggested that MRI has a high diagnostic value to evaluate OCD lesion stability. However, in predicting the stability of juvenile OCD lesions, the MRI criteria applied for adult OCD lesions do not work well. While some new juvenile OCD-specific MRI criteria have been proposed that yield a satisfactory outcome, further investigations are warranted.
