Clinical value of 18FDG PET/CT in screening for distant metastases in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
Clinical Otolaryngology Feb 01, 2018
Deurvorst SE, et al. - This study was conducted to assess the importance of 18FDG PET/CT for the detection of distant metastases in the management of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma patients. The authors concluded that 18FDG PET/CT displayed a high negative predictive value in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma patients with high-risk factors for the detection of distant metastases. Hence, it was recommended in daily clinical practice. However, the sensitivity appeared to be limited when long-term follow-up was used as a reference standard.
