Clinical utility of coronary computed tomography angiography in patients diagnosed with high-grade stenosis of the coronary arteries
Coronary Artery Disease Nov 06, 2019
Kim C, Hong SJ, Shin S, et al. - Among patients with a coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) finding of high-grade stenosis, researchers assessed the trustworthiness of CCTA. Patients who had invasive coronary angiography (ICA) due to detection of high-grade stenosis by CCTA were selected for this study from the prospective registry cohort between May 2015 and March 2017. Only 263 patients on ICA were correctly diagnosed with significant coronary artery disease as were CCTA findings among 646 eligible patients. According to logistic regression analysis, smoking, taller height, and the presence of typical symptoms of angina were found to increase the likelihood of diagnostic concordance. In patients who were diagnosed with a CCTA finding of high-grade stenosis, the diagnostic discordance between CCTA and ICA was frequently observed.
