Clinical usefulness of the body muscle-to-fat ratio for screening obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in patients with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice Jul 16, 2018
Kurinami N, et al. - Whether body composition measurements are useful for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) screening in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) suspected of having OSAS was examined in this analysis. Participants in the study were 186 hospital in-patients with inadequately controlled T2DM. By bioelectrical impedance analysis using InBody770, elementary body composition was measured. The findings from the present study suggested that the body muscle-to-fat ratio (BMFR) could be used to screen for OSAS in daily clinical practice in patients with T2DM.
