Clinical significance of prognostic score based on age, tumor size, and grade in gastric cancer after gastrectomy
Cancer Management and Research Oct 16, 2018
Lu J, et al. - Researchers sought to recommend and validate a prognostic score based on age, tumor size, and grade in gastric cancer after gastrectomy. For the present study, they included 26,091 eligible patients diagnosed with noncardia gastric cancer in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database from 1988 to 2012. Outcomes support the independent predictive value of prognostic score based on age, tumor size, and grade for survival following gastrectomy. The novel prognostic score seems to have potential for enhancing the prediction accuracy of the current TNM stage system. Extensive follow-up surgery is recommended for patients who with a high prognostic score.
