Furuuchi K, et al. - Given the association of chronic pulmonary aspergillosis (CPA) with mortality in patients with Mycobacterium avium complex lung disease (MAC-LD), researchers investigated the clinical characteristics and outcomes of MAC-LD patients in whom Aspergillus was isolated from respiratory specimens. Findings revealed that the mortality rates between patients with Aspergillus isolation and those without were not significantly different. However, there could be an association of isolation of A. fumigatus with poor prognosis in MAC-LD patients.
