Clinical significance of anti-DNA/N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor 2 antibodies in de novo and post-steroid cases with neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Oct 29, 2018
Fujieda Y, et al. - Researchers assessed the prevalence of anti-DNA/N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor 2 (NR2) antibodies (anti-DNA/NR2 antibodies) in patients with neuropsychiatric system lupus erythematosus (NPSLE). They classified the NPSLE patients into two groups, de novo NPSLE and PSNP-SLE. Findings suggested comparable levels of anti-DNA/NR2 antibodies in PSNP-SLE and de novo NPSLE. A dominant subset of anti-DNA antibodies was anti-DNA/NR2 antibodies in PSNP-SLE, and this was suggestive of being predictive of anti-DNA/NR2 antibodies in PSNP-SLE. Authors noted that anti-DNA antibodies were positively correlated to anti-DNA/NR2 antibodies in PSNP-SLE, but it was not significant in de novo NPSLE.
