Clinical significance of altering epithelial–mesenchymal transition in metastatic lymph nodes of gastric cancer

Gastric Cancer Aug 26, 2017

Okubo K, et al. – This research aspired to examine the expression of the epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) markers (E–cadherin, N–cadherin, and Snail genes) in the primary tumor sites and metastatic lymph nodes. For predicting the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer, the expression of N–cadherin in metastatic lymph nodes was useful. The Snail switch—namely, the positive–to–negative conversion of the Snail status—between primary tumors and lymph node metastasis could be important for confirming EMT and mesenchymal–epithelial transition.
