Clinical relevance of gene expression in localized and metastatic prostate cancer exemplified by FABP5
World Journal of Urology Feb 02, 2019
Nitschke K, et al. - Researchers analyzed the clinical significance of FABP5 in localized and metastatic prostate cancer (PCa). They assessed the FABP5 mRNA expression with qRT-PCR. They observed frequent overexpression of FABP5 in PCa but it appeared to be limited to TMPRESS2:ERG fusion-negative tumors. They also noted an association of this gene with SPOP and FOXA1 mutations. This overexpression of FABP5 was suggestive of increased activity in PPAR signaling, which was a potential drug target.
