Clinical recurrence of submucosal myoma after a mechanical hysteroscopic myomectomy: Review after 5 years follow up
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Nov 22, 2019
Vidal-Mazo C, et al. - Researchers performed an evaluation of 5 years follow up of the clinical recurrence after hysteroscopic myomectomies with MyoSure® morcellator in their district. In the prospective cohort study, they included 320 premenopausal patients from April 2013 to October 2018, with symptoms of abnormal uterine bleeding, and/or infertility, and sonographic suspicion of submucosal myoma, confirmed by diagnostic hysteroscopy prior to myomectomy. They identified no recurrence or symptoms after a 1-year follow-up. Due to incomplete resection, 53 (16.6%) re-morcellations were conducted. The analysis suggests a high efficacy of in-office hysteroscopic mechanical myomectomy with MyoSure® morcellator of submucosal fibromas for these women, at 3 years of follow-up. It seems to yield adequate long-term results with a low recurrence rate and without significant complications.
