Clinical profile of nonresponders to surgical myectomy with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
American Journal of Medicine Jan 26, 2018
Wells S, et al. - Experts coveted an investigation of the clinical profile of patients who did not experience sustained postoperative improvement despite relief of left ventricular outflow obstruction in the case of individuals with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy underwent myectomy. They discovered that surgical myectomy was highly effective at reversing heart failure symptoms in maximum patients with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Yet, a minor group of subjects reported persistent functional limitation despite surgical relief of outflow obstruction. Substantial/massive septal thickness and youthful age were found to be the predictors of adverse postoperative course. The nonresponders to myectomy were taken into account for advanced heart failure treatment strategies such as heart transplantation.
