Clinical predictors of survival in young patients with small cell lung cancer patients

Lara JD et al. - In the current study it was shown that patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC) < 50 years was shown to be an independent predictor of improved cancer-specific survival (CSS).
Methods
Of 22,863 SCLC patients, 975 were < 50 years of age and were studied.
Results
Age < 50 years was an independent predictor of improved CSS (HR=0.82).
Based on multivariate models, female gender (HR=0.81), Asian race (HR=0.57), and rural residence (HR=0.75) were associated with better CSS.
