Clinical predictors of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus infection from children to adults

Wu JF, et al. - Researchers in this investigated the predictors of liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV)-infected subjects. Findings revealed that for liver fibrosis, male gender, beyond childhood, elevated alpha-fetoprotein level, and HBeAg-negative hepatitis were the risk factors. In subjects with HBeAg-negative hepatitis, interleukin-1β was observed to be involved in the progression of liver fibrosis.
