Clinical outcomes of revision biceps tenodesis for failed long head of biceps surgery: A systematic review
Arthroscopy May 27, 2021
Rudisill SS, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate the modes of failure and examine the clinical and functional outcomes of revision biceps tenodesis after failed primary surgical treatment of the long head of biceps pathology. Researchers carried out searches of PubMed, EMBASE, and CINAHL databases and manual screening of selected article reference lists in September 2020. In this study, five of 465 distinguished studies met inclusion criteria, encompassing 70 revision biceps tenodesis procedures with a mean follow-up of 2.4-6.4 years. In this systematic review, results showed that the most common reasons for revision biceps tenodesis were pain or cramping and re-rupture. The findings revealed that open subpectoral revision tenodesis with concomitant arthroscopic debridement provided improvements in functional scores with high patient satisfaction at mid-term follow-up.
