Clinical outcomes of minimally invasive repair using ring forceps for acute achilles tendon rupture
The Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery Dec 26, 2020
Park CH, et al. - This study was sought to develop a mini-open technique using ring forceps. Researchers treated 26 consecutive individuals applying a mini-open technique using ring forceps for acute Achilles tendon rupture. They assessed American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society scores and Achilles tendon total rupture scores at the last follow-up. They further assessed and compared the active range of motion of ankle joint and maximum calf circumference with the uninjured side at the last follow-up, as well as hopping and single-limb heel-rise tests and isokinetic tests for ankle plantarflexion. The results demonstrated that for acute Achilles tendon rupture, the mini-open technique using ring forceps exhibited satisfactory clinical outcomes and favorable functional outcomes without complications.
