The Laryngoscope Apr 25, 2019
Lechien JR, et al. - Authors researched the therapeutic advantage of proton pump inhibitors vs placebo in individuals with laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) and also assessed the epidemiological factors of heterogeneity. They observed significant heterogeneity in the randomized controlled trial due to discrepancies in clinical therapeutic outcomes, diagnosis methods (lack of gold standard diagnostic tools), and therapeutic scheme. The existence of such discrepancies in the entire literature was supported by the epidemiological analysis of all articles. They found no estimation of various symptoms and signs encountered frequently in LPR in the treatment effectiveness.
