Clinical outcomes of double stent strategy for unprotected left main distal bifurcation lesions using current generation drug eluting stent comparing to early generation drug eluting stent; the Milan and New Tokyo (MITO) registry

Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Feb 20, 2021

Watanabe Y, Mitomo S, Naganuma T, et al. - Among unprotected distal left main disease patients managed with percutaneous coronary intervention with double stent strategy (DSS), clinical results were compared between those treated with a early generation drug eluting stent (eDES) vs those who received a current generation drug eluting stent (cDES). eDES included herein were Cipher, Taxus, and Endeavor and the included cDES were Ultimaster, Resolute family, Xience family, Promus family, Synergy, and Nobori. In the whole sample, a significantly lower rate of overall target lesion revascularization (TLR) was reported in cDES group vs in eDES group. The cDES group was found to have a significantly lower rate of TLR for the ostium of LCX, vs the eDES group. Overall, in this population managed with DSS, significantly improved clinical results were conferred by cDES mainly driven by the decrease of TLR for the ostium of LCX.
