Clinical outcomes in the treatment of unilateral condylar fractures: A cross-sectional study
International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Jun 20, 2018
Rozeboom AVJ, et al. - Experts assessed the outcomes of the treatment of condylar fractures using the Mandibular Function Impairment Questionnaire (MFIQ) and the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD). They also compared the outcomes of open and the closed treatment. A significant prevalence of TMD complaints was not revealed by the examination according to the DC/TMD. Findings suggested safety and appropriateness of closed treatment as a treatment modality for most unilateral condylar fractures. Nonetheless, similar outcomes were demonstrated with the open group in general, this treatment ought to be reserved for limited indications.
