Tokarek T, et al. - Researchers compared patient profiles and periprocedural outcomes of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in nonagenarians and patients aged < 90 years using data based on the Polish National Registry of PCI (ORPKI). Participants included 651,080 consecutive patients with stable angina (SA; n=260,920) or acute coronary syndrome (ACS; n=390,160) undergoing PCI with at ≥ 1 stent implanted, and were stratified by age (< 90 and ≥ 90 years). Findings suggested that nonagenarians undergoing PCI due to SA may have outcomes similar to patients younger than 90 years of age; in ACS presentation, however, they may have worse outcomes than their younger counterparts.
