Clinical outcomes following stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for stage I medically inoperable small cell lung carcinoma: A multi-institutional analysis from the RSSearch patient registry
American Journal of Clinical Oncology Jun 30, 2019
Singh R, et al. - Researchers examined medically inoperable stage I small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) patients treated with definitive SBRT from the RSSearch Patient Registry for local control (LC), overall survival (OS), and toxicities. Of the 21 patients meeting the inclusion criteria, 14 had stage IA SCLC (T1N0) and 7 had stage IB SCLC (T2N0) with a median gross tumor volume of 10.1 cm3 (range: 0.72 to 41.4 cm3). Patients showed good tolerability to SBRT with excellent LC. Patients with T1N0 stage IA SCLC vs those with T2N0 Stage IB SCLC exhibited improved progression-free survival and OS after SBRT. OS for stage I SCLC patients was improved following adjuvant chemotherapy vs SBRT alone.
