Clinical outcomes after local anesthesia with monitored anesthesia care during thyroidectomy and selective neck dissection: A randomized study
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Sep 13, 2017
Kim MS, et al. Â The clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction levels of local anesthesia with monitored anesthesia care (LA-MAC) were compared with general anesthesia (GA) during thyroidectomy and selective neck dissection in adult patients undergoing these surgeries for thyroid cancer. Results suggested that LA-MAC could be used routinely for selected cases of thyroidectomy and was feasible for selective neck dissection beyond level VI in terms of postoperative discomfort, patient satisfaction levels, and safety. However, more likewise studies were needed to confirm these findings.
