Clinical outcome of recurrent afebrile seizures in children with benign convulsions associated with mild gastroenteritis
Seizure - European Journal of Epilepsy Jun 15, 2018
Chen B, et al. - The clinical outcome and progression of recurrent afebrile seizures in children initially diagnosed with benign convulsions associated with mild gastroenteritis (CwG) was evaluated in this analysis. The medical records of 37 patients who were diagnosed as CwG at onset with consequent recurrent afebrile seizures were reviewed and analyzed. Patients were followed up for at least 24 months. Results of this study suggested that all the recurrent afebrile seizures initially diagnosed as CwG exhibited favorable prognoses, irrespective of the kinds and frequency of relapses. Rather than epilepsy, CwG may fall within the category of situation-related seizures.
