Clinical manifestations, disease activity and disease burden of radiographic vs non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis over 5 years of follow-up in the DESIR cohort
Annals of Rheumatic Diseases Dec 07, 2019
Medina CL, et al. - Researchers did this study on 669 individuals, with 185 radiographic (r-axSpA) and 484 non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (nr-axSpA) to contrast their clinical indications, disease activity, and disease burden over a 5-year follow-up period in the Devenir des Spondylarthropathies Indifferénciées Récentes cohort. Cox regressions for peripheral and extra-rheumatic did not show any notable differences between groups following adjusting for age, gender and tumor necrosis factor blocker consumption. Between groups, mixed models also exhibited comparable mean levels in patient-reported outcomes and days of sick leave over time. In conclusion, following adjusting for intervening variables, the incidence of peripheral and extra-rheumatic indications and the disease burden over time continued to be similar between r-axSpA and nr-axSpA groups.
