Clinical implications of nonspecific pulmonary nodules identified during the initial evaluation of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
European Radiology Aug 10, 2017
Kwon M, et al. – Researchers intended to distinguish the clinical implications of nonspecific pulmonary nodules (NPNs) detected in the initial staging workup for patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The obtained data indicates that nonspecific pulmonary nodules detected in the initial evaluation of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma did not predict the risk of pulmonary malignancies. Cervical lymph node involvement and platelet–lymphocyte ratio ≥126 may be independent prognostic factors affecting pulmonary malignancy–free survival regardless of NPN status.
