Clinical impact of preoperative liver MRI in the evaluation of synchronous liver metastasis of colon cancer
European Radiology Sep 07, 2018
Kim C, et al. - This study was undertaken to determine if additional MRI including gadoxetic acid enhancement was related to survival rate (SR) in patients with synchronous liver metastasis of colon cancer (sCLM), compared with patients assessed only with CT. For preoperative work-up of sCLM, 52 patients had only CT (CT group) and 65 had additional MRI (CT+MRI group). Researchers found that the estimated 5-year SR in the CT+MRI group was 70.8%, while that in the CT group was 48.1%. Results of this study suggested that additional preoperative evaluation by MRI allowed us to more accurately detect sCLM and was related to a better SR.
