Clinical impact of low-volume lymph node metastases in early-stage cervical cancer: A comprehensive meta-analysis
Gynecologic Oncology Dec 23, 2021
Guani B, Mahiou K, Crestani A, et al. - Researchers conducted a comprehensive meta-analysis of published data and individual data obtained from articles mentioning micrometastases (MIC) and isolated tumor cells (ITC) in cervical cancer, with a follow up of at least 3 years, with the aim to define the clinical significance of low-volume metastasis.
For the meta-analysis, a total of 11 articles were retained.
Findings suggest an association of the presence of micrometastases with a negative impact on disease-free survival.
Researchers recommend considering patients with isolated tumor cells like negative lymph node patients.
