Clinical imaging factors associated with infarct progression in patients with ischemic stroke during transfer for mechanical thrombectomy
JAMA Neurology Sep 29, 2017
Boulouis G, et al. - In this study, experts sought to investigate the clinical imaging factors associated with unfavorable imaging profile evolution for thrombectomy in patients with ischemic stroke initially transferred to non-thrombectomy-capable stroke center (TCSC). Poor collateral blood flow and stroke clinical severity were the main determinants of Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) decay in patients with ischemic stroke transferred for thrombectomy. They proposed that in certain subgroups vascular imaging could play a crucial role in determining the benefits of transfer for thrombectomy including collateral assessment.
