Clinical imaging factors associated with infarct progression in patients with ischemic stroke during transfer for mechanical thrombectomy
JAMA Neurology Nov 17, 2017
Boulouis G, et al. - Among patients with ischemic stroke initially transferred to non-thrombectomy-capable stroke centers (TCSCs), the researchers investigated the clinical imaging factors correlated with unfavorable imaging profile evolution for thrombectomy. The main determinants of Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) decay were poor collateral blood flow and stroke clinical severity in patients with ischemic stroke transferred for thrombectomy. The findings proposed that in certain subgroups vascular imaging could play a crucial role, including collateral assessment, in determining the benefits of transfer for thrombectomy.
